Canada's fiscal update paints grim picture for economy with deficit at nearly $62 billion

With Chrystia Freeland’s sudden resignation from the finance minister position, she obviously didn’t table the government’s fall economic statement as planned — Government House Leader Karina Gould ended up doing that.

The update shows the deficit has grown to nearly $62 billion – far beyond the $40-billion target Freeland set earlier in the year.

And as Mackenzie Gray reports, the mini-budget is painting a less-than-stellar picture of the government’s finances.
