Minister of Science and Technology: China's Scientific Innovation Benefits People's Liveli

China's progress in science and innovation has benefited people's livelihood, Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang said in Beijing on Saturday.

The country has achieved remarkable results in new medicine development, epidemic prevention and pollution control, Wan said at a press conference on the sidelines of the first session of the 13th National People's Congress.

"We have built a technical system to cope with heavy pollution, which serves the joint prevention and control of air pollution in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Pearl River Delta. Our ultra-supercritical power plants, nearly Zero Energy Buildings (nZEBs), zero-emission electric vehicles, and the upgrades of conventional vehicles have all made contributions to 'the battle for blue sky'," said the minister.

The country has mobilized the private sector in building ecological civilization.
