Putin says Russia is ready for Ukraine peace talks with Trump

Russian President Vladimir Putin said he would be willing to hold talks with Ukraine if Donald Trump proposed them.

Speaking at the beginning of his annual marathon press conference, Putin said that he had not spoken to Trump for four years but was willing to hold talks.

“I don’t know when I’m going to see him,” he said. “He isn’t saying anything about it. I haven’t talked to him in more than four years. I am ready for it, of course. Any time.”

Putin, who said Russian forces in Ukraine has taken control of 189 settlements so far this year, said Russia's nuclear weapons were there for deterrence.
