Two Scientists Win China's Top Science Award

Two Chinese scientists, explosives expert Wang Zeshan and virologist Hou Yunde, won China's top science award Monday for their outstanding contributions to scientific and technological innovation.

Chinese President Xi Jinping presented award certificates to them at an annual ceremony held in Beijing to honor distinguished scientists and research achievements.

Wang, a professor from Nanjing University of Science and Technology and academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, has been engaged in research on explosives and powders for 60 years.

Hou, a virologist and an academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, spends most of his life in research on various fierce viruses.

The ceremony honored 271 projects and nine scientists with national prizes.
