LIVE | China HMPV Outbreak: India Reports Surge in HMPV Cases, Seven Cases Detected

India has witnessed a surge in Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) cases. On Monday (January 6, 2024) seven cases of human metapneumovirus ( HMPV ) were detected - two each in Bengaluru, Nagpur and Tamil Nadu, and one in Ahmedabad. This comes amid a surge in respiratory illnesses in China. India's Union health minister J P Nadda said that the rise in cases won't lead to a Covid-like outbreak.
