‘Not afraid…,’ China reacts to 245% tariffs, urges US to stop exerting ‘maximum pressure’

China’s foreign ministry on Wednesday (April 16) called on the United States to stop exerting maximum pressure if it really wants to solve issues through dialogue.Speaking to reporters at a regular press briefing, foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said there were no winners in a tariff or a trade war, and the U.S. "should engage in talks with China on the basis of equality, mutual respect and reciprocity".
