US-China trade war could see ‘offramp’ sooner rather than later

Newsweek Senior Editor-at-Large Josh Hammer discusses claims from the White House that a trade deal “had been reached” with China.

US President Donald Trump’s trade war with China has started affecting ports in California with the number of ships docking dropping by 44 per cent.

“It looks like US and China could have an offramp to this trade war sooner rather than later which is probably a good thing for consumers,” Mr Hammer told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

“As long as there is something to point to and say that this actually a win, then I will be optimistic for it.”
