US President Donald Trump has announced that the United States and Iran have reached a peace agreement, raising hopes of an end to months of tensions in West Asia. According to statements from both sides, military operations will stop immediately, and the naval blockade linked to the conflict will be lifted. Trump also said that shipping through the Strait of Hormuz would resume without toll charges. Iran has described the agreement as the result of diplomacy, military deterrence and negotiations, while Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye reportedly played key roles in mediation efforts. The agreement is expected to be formally signed in Switzerland on June 19.
