World energy markets react as Trump continues Iran strikes
We are learning from new reports that Iran launched new attacks Thursday on Israel, American bases and countries around the region. Officials in Iran also warned that the United States would "bitterly regret" torpedoing an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean this week. The ongoing conflict has had wide-ranging impacts on the world’s energy markets. LiveNOW’s Andy Mac is learning more about the evolving situation with Omar Qudrat, a former U.S. Department of Defense official and counter-terrorism prosecutor. Qudrat previously told Fox News, “as to global effects, Iran’s energy has always made its regime globally significant.”
Disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, caused by U.S.-Israeli strikes over the weekend, are forcing shippers to reconsider the safety of transiting this crucial waterway. The United States and Israel on Saturday launched strikes targeting Iran's leadership, including its Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed. Iran's missile arsenal and nuclear facilities were also hit during the military operation.
