Nearly 170 people killed by gunmen in Nigeria's Kwara State according to state officials
Armed men have reportedly killed at least 170 people in Nigeria's western Kwara State.
Police say bandits burned homes and shops during an attack late on Tuesday.
Schools across Kwara state had been closed in recent days because of rising violence.
The governor approved the resumption of classes on Sunday saying the security situation had improved.
